Texas Rose Festival in Tyler celebrates rose industry with pageantry, other activities

The theme for 2024 is the Fanfare of Festivals.

TYLER, Texas — Editor's Note: The above video aired in January 2024.

The Texas Rose Festival begins its 91st celebration later this week to honor the city of Tyler's rich history that's rooted in the rose industry.

The festival kicks off Thursday morning with a ribbon cutting and prayer service at the Rose Garden Center. The celebration will continue with men's and women's luncheons, the Rose Parade, Queen's Coronation, the Queen's Tea and other activities through Sunday.

The Texas Rose Festival has been celebrated with pageantry and ceremony since 1933. This year's queen is Frances Olivia Faulconer, and the other leaders of the court are Princess of the Texas Rose Festival Merritt Elizabeth Dial and Duchess of the Rose Growers Alice Elizabeth Milton.

The theme for 2024 is the Fanfare of Festivals.
