Texas Rose Festival celebrating Tyler's rose history, industry returns this week

The annual celebration, which began in 1933, will feature pageantry, the queen's coronation, art displays, the festival parade and more.

The 90th Texas Rose Festival kicks off this Thursday and continues into the weekend celebrating the city of Tyler's history and its connections to the rose industry.

The annual celebration, which began in 1933, will feature pageantry, the queen's coronation, art displays, the festival parade and more. This year's theme is the Story of Film and Laura Elaine Bryan is the 2023 Texas Rose Queen. Conley Jeanette Patricia Cavender is this year's festival princess.

THURSDAY, OCT. 19

  • 10 a.m.: 90th Texas Rose Festival Ribbon Cutting and Morning Prayer Service at the Rose Garden Center, free admission and open to the public. 
  • 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.: Texas Rose Festival Rose Display at the Rose Garden Center, free admission. 
  • 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.: Palette of Roses Art Show and Sale Art Show and sale of palette of roses art work done in different media at the Rose Garden Center, free admission. Paletteofrosesartleague.com 

FRIDAY, OCT. 20

  • 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.: Texas Rose Festival Rose Display at the Rose Garden Center, free admission. 
  • 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.: Palette of Roses Art Show and Sale Art Show and sale of palette of roses art work done in different media at the Rose Garden Center, free admission. Paletteofrosesartleague.com 
  • 11:15 a.m.: Texas Rose Festival Men's Luncheon with speaker Kenneth A. Hersh, president and CEO of the George W. Bush Presidential Center, location to be determined. Tickets required: $50 and up. 
  • 11:30 a.m.: Texas Rose Festival Ladies’ Luncheon with speaker Danielle D. Rollins, author and lifestyle expert. The CrossWalk Center at Green Acres Baptist Church. Tickets required: $75 and up. 
  • 2 p.m.: Texas Rose Festival Matinee Coronation (R. Don Cowan Fine & Performing Arts Center, located at 3900 University Blvd.) Tickets required: $15-$45 
  • 7 p.m.: Texas Rose Festival Evening Coronation (R. Don Cowan Fine & Performing Arts Center, located at 3900 University Blvd.) Tickets required: $25-$85 

SATURDAY, OCT. 21

  • 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.: Rose Festival Arts & Crafts Fair with more than 75 vendors will provide handmade items such as creative art, jewelry, photography, mixed media, food, wood and more at Bergfeld Park (1510 S College), free admission (kids zone & concessions for a fee). 
  • 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Tyler’s Old Rose Open House at the historic Goodman-LeGrand House (624 N Broadway Ave) Vintage Rose Festival Dress Display from now until Oct. 29, Tuesday through Saturday 
  • 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.: Texas Rose Festival Queen’s Tea Tyler Municipal Rose Garden, free admission

SUNDAY, OCT. 22
