Texas Rangers investigate Mount Pleasant City Council reimbursements

The Texas Rangers are involved in an investigation of the council and some of its members, Texas DPS Sgt. Ethan Sartor confirmed.

MOUNT PLEASANT, Texas — Four members of the Mount Pleasant City Council collected thousands of dollars in travel reimbursements during a three-year period, prompting an investigation by state law enforcement and drawing the attention of town residents.

The Texas Rangers are involved in an investigation of the council and some of its members, Texas DPS Sgt. Ethan Sartor confirmed.

Since 2021, the city of Mount Pleasant has paid Mayor Tracy Craig and Council members Sherri Spruill, Galen Adams and Henry Chappell II a combined more than $40,000 in travel reimbursements, mostly for mileage the officials accrued while conducting city business, city records show.
