TEXARKANA, Texas — Texarkana police officer Chris Flores is out of surgery following a dog attack on Friday night.
Officials were called to the 700 block of Wilson Street in Texarkana regarding a dog attacking a woman. Flores got out of his car and while walking toward the house, two dogs charged at him.
Flores was knocked down and the dogs continued to attack him until Officer Matthew Lindsey arrived. Lindsey was able to stop the attack by spraying them with a fire extinguisher. Flores was then transported to the hospital by patrol unit.
Officials said they had to shoot one of the dogs when it charged the animal control officer, who had to come to get it.
According to the Facebook post, Flores suffered serious injuries to both of his arms, including bites that resulted in muscle damage and 23 lacerations. Flores is currently recovering from surgery that included removing a small amount of exposed muscle in his arm.
