FLORIDA, USA — Hurricane Milton is another natural disaster Texans On Mission is preparing to help with. Right now, they have over 100 volunteers staged in North Carolina and Tennessee following the aftermath of Helene.
The volunteer organization has provided over 4,000 meals daily since Helene made landfall nearly two weeks ago, and as time goes on, the organization has seen the needs grow by the day. They’re also preparing for Hurricane Milton by setting up a mass feeding kitchen and partnering up with local churches.
"We're going to bring in some tools and equipment to clean out homes," said Texans On Mission spokesperson John Hall said. "And then we're going to partner that with some area churches for a volunteer force, and just oversee and guide this site. So we can really make a dent, make an impact as quickly as possible once the storm moves."
Those who would like to donate or even help out in the field after a disaster, can go to texansonmission.org.
"With such a large systems coming through and hitting the United States, the volunteer force across this United States, it is so crucial in volunteer relief is being stretched thin," Hall said. "And so there's opportunities for you to to cut and remove trees. There's opportunities for you to feed people. There's opportunities for you to clean out flooded homes. Whether it's in Tennessee, North Carolina or Florida, the folks there need you and and so if you go to our website, you can do just that."
