TEXAS, USA — The Texas Department of Criminal Justice are investigating some correctional officers who participated in the "Feeling Cute Challenge."
As you may have seen, the social media trend has become popular with law enforcement officers. The challenge is a picture with the caption "Feeling Cute" followed by what the officer might do later.
The post is meant to be a harmless way for officers to interact with the community. However, according to the Houston Chronicle, there is a Facebook page between correctional officers with some inappropriate "Feeling Cute" photographs.
The Houston Chronicle says a woman dressed in what appeared to be a TDCJ uniform, posted a selfie to the page with the caption "Feeling cute, might just gas some inmates today, IDK."
The newspaper says other posts within the group suggested that an officer who feels cute might "Gas the whole wing later" or "Wrestle an inmate later."
According to TDCJ, as of now six correctional officers employed by the agency are under investigation for on and off-duty conduct violations. The department says the investigation comes after alleged inappropriate photos and comments on social media, by those officers.
"These officers in no way represent the thousands of TDCJ employees who go to work every day taking public safety seriously in all ways," Texas Department of Criminal Justice Executive Director, Bryan Collier, said. "Investigations are ongoing. If any allegations prove true, swift disciplinary action that could include termination of involved employees will occur."
