Tatum ISD mourns loss of longtime board member

TATUM, Texas — Tatum ISD is mourning the loss of one of their board members on Saturday evening.

According to Tatum ISD Superintendent J.P. Richardson, longtime board member Karen McIIwain has passed away. 

"Our hearts mourn for her, and our thoughts and prayers are with her daughter Erika, sons Kevin and Devin, and their families," Richardson said in a statement.

McIIwain was known to be a dedicated public servant not only at Tatum ISD but in the community as well.

She was a member of the Tatum ISD Board of Trustees for over two decades working as an advocate for the district and the Tatum community.

"We celebrate her life and are thankful for her many contributions and support for our students, staff, and their families," the press release said.
