RUSK, Texas — No students are in danger after Rusk ISD officials say there were reports of a student planning to bring a gun to the high school Tuesday morning.
According to the school district, a high school student overheard another student claim they were going to bring a firearm to school. Law enforcement was called and the student in question was located, and they're now getting interviewed.
"RISD takes all threats seriously and the safety of our students and staff is our first priority. Our students are not in any danger and we will continue to monitor the situation closely," Rusk ISD Superintendent Grey Burton said.
