LONGVIEW, Texas — Spring Hill ISD could face a budget shortfall of roughly $420,000 in the next fiscal year primarily because of decreased student attendance and higher operational costs.
Board members discussed the district’s financial future and accepted the resignation of Trustee David Duncan on Tuesday night.
Spring Hill ISD is among numerous districts across the Lone Star State facing budget shortfalls, which education leaders attribute to soaring inflation and stagnant state funding. Although districts’ operational costs have increased, state lawmakers haven’t increased the amount of money districts receive for each student since 2019, before the coronavirus pandemic.
