TYLER, Texas — The city of Tyler, including what it has to offer for a trip, was recently featured in Southern Living magazine.
The article notes new businesses coming into downtown spaces, new road and pedestrian projects and a large dining scene have breathed new life into the city.
Some of the attractions pointed out in the article include the Tyler Rose Garden, the Caldwell Zoo and its soon-to-be-unveiled redevelopment of its South American section, the trails, campsites and lake at Tyler State Park, and a show at Hudnall Planetarium at Tyler Junior College.
Southern Living also highlighted Lucio’s Boot Repair & Western Wear, a family-owned business that has been operated by Jose Lucio and his son Gabriel for over 25 years. The shop is located at 305 W. Front St. in Tyler.
Also featured was the Mosaic District, located at 2453 Earl Campbell Parkway, on west side of Tyler. The area is anchored by True Vine Brewing and has expanded to include Sola Bread Co's fresh pizza and The Apple Gal Candy Co., a maker of hand-dipped caramel apples with gourmet toppings.
Other restaurants and bakeries named are the fine dining restaurant, III Palms, steakhouse Prime 102, Don Juan Mexican restaurants (three locations in Tyler), the Tyler Tortilla Factory and Janie’s Cakes (notably named to Oprah’s Favorite Things List).
Southern Living also mentions the Greyhound Inn, located at 311 N Bois D'Arc Ave., and the Thomas Hotel, located at 109 E. Erwin St., as places to stay for the night.
