1 person dead after 3-vehicle wreck on State Highway 110 in Smith County

The wreck was a head-on collision that has Texas Department of Public Safety troopers and firefighters on the scene.

TYLER, Texas — One person is dead after a three-vehicle wreck on State Highway 110 South in Smith County Monday morning. 

The head-on collision happened at the intersection of County Road 2121 (Meador Cemetery Road). Texas Department of Public Safety Sgt. Adam Albritton confirmed that one person passed away as a result of the crash. 

DPS said the first vehicle was trying to turn southbound on SH 110 from CR 2121 and the second vehicle was going northbound in the middle lane of SH 110. The first vehicle hit the second vehicle, which was then pushed across the inside lane into the path of the third vehicle. 

According to DPS, the second and third vehicles struck each other head-on and came to a rest in the southbound lanes. The driver of the second vehicle was pronounced dead following the wreck. 

The driver of the first vehicle had minor injuries and the third vehicle's driver was taken to the hospital for major injuries.
