TYLER, Texas — Smith County Sheriff Larry Smith is expected to announce the identity of skeletal remains that were found on Interstate 20 nearly 40 years ago.
The Smith County Sheriff's Office will host a news conference Tuesday at 2:45 p.m. concerning the identity of a female homicide victim whose skeletal remains were located on I-20 in 1985.
According to the sheriff's office, she was listed as a “Jane Doe” until recently.
"This is a very interesting case and the sheriff will discuss the events leading up to the positive identification tomorrow," the sheriff's office announcement read. "The Smith County investigator originally assigned to the case will also be present."
