Smith County continues to clear roads of storm debris

Smith County reports more than 300 trees that had fallen across 100 different county roads during Monday night's storm.

SMITH COUNTY, Texas — Smith County released the list of roads still closed from storm damage as of Friday morning.

The Smith County Road and Bridge Department has worked for two weeks clearing country roads that have been closed off due to recent severe weather. 

The following roads have fallen power lines on them, and will remain closed until Oncor can safely remove them:

  • County Road 429
  • County Road 1303
  • County Road 2133

In addition, some county roads suffered from washouts or undermined culverts, and will remain barricaded until repairs are complete. The list of affected roads includes:

  • County Road 381
  • County Road 498
  • County Road 2110 
  • County Road 3203

During this time, Smith County is advising drivers not to drive around barricaded roads.

Saw crews from the Texas A&M Forest Service's Texas Intrastate Fire Mutual Aid System are working alongside the City of Tyler and Smith County to clear trees from roadways. Smith County reports more than 300 trees that had fallen across 100 different county roads during Monday night's storm.
