SMITH COUNTY — Multiple units responded to a structure fire in Smith County.
According to the Smith County Fire Marshal Connie McCoy-Wasson, the fire is at 11328 Highway 271 near the Eagle Creek subdivision.
According to the Jackson Heights Fire Department, firefighters received the call at about 3 p.m.
The house was fully enveloped when firefighters arrived. No one was in the house.
McCoy-Wasson says the house was abandoned and is a total loss.
According to McCoy-Wasson, the fire is under investigation. She says part of the investigation involves two juveniles that "should not have been there." However, she did not give any more details about what role the juveniles might have had in the fire.
CBS19 spoke to the 911 caller on the scene of the fire. The caller says two girls set the fire.
The caller, who is 13, says the girls ran without putting the fire out. She then called 911 to the scene.
Units from Jackson Heights, Winona and Red Springs fire departments responded to the fire.
The Smith County Fire Marshal's office is searching for the owner of the property as a part of their investigation.
