TYLER - A relative has been charged in the murder of 10-year-old Kayla Gomez-Orozco.
24-year-old Gustavo Zavala-Garcia is facing Capital Murder charges. His bond is set at $10 million.
Garcia showed no emotion as deputies walked him from the Smith County Sheriff’s office to a waiting patrol car, and then transported to the Smith County Jail.
He's been in custody since Saturday on an ICE detainer but was formally charged with capital murder today.
All of this in connection with the death of Kayla.
Authorities recovered her body from a well behind Zavala-Garcia's home Saturday night, about four miles from the Bullard church where she disappeared Tuesday.
A press conference is scheduled Tuesday where more information on a possible motive, and preliminary autopsy results are expected.
