SFA Planetarium to offer free admission to shows with solar eclipse glasses donation

The glasses collected will be sent to students in other countries to view future solar eclipses.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas — The Stephen F. Austin State University Planetarium is offering free admission to some of its shows by donating any pair of solar eclipse glasses.

Anyone who donates eclipse glasses to the planetarium will get to attend a show on Saturday, April 13 and/or Saturday, April 20. The glasses collected will be sent to students in other countries to view future solar eclipses.

"The solar eclipse glasses that you provide can be from any supplier even if you got them for free," a post from the planetarium said.

Glasses can be dropped off at the ticket office of the Planetarium in the SFA STEM Building, located at 1720 Clark Blvd. in Nacogdoches.

The April 13 show will be "Secret Lives of Stars" at 7 p.m. or 8 p.m. On April 20, the shows will be "One World, One Sky" at 3 p.m., "Journey to the Stars" at 4:30 p.m. and "Secret Lives of Stars" at 7 p.m.

People who have a large collection of solar eclipse glasses, then you can mail them directly to one of the Astronomers Without Borders collection partners. Mailing address can be found here
