KILGORE, Texas — Six East Texas natives are among the newest members of the world-famous Kilgore College Rangerettes dance and drill team.
Thirty-four young women became a part of the Rangerettes' 85th line on Saturday. The announcement was made during a closed ceremony in Dodson Auditorium that concluded “tryout week.” They will be joining 32 sophomores to make a team of 66.
Local Kilgore Rangerette freshmen this year are Abigale Hazlewood, of Bullard, Faith Stowe, of Hallsville, Abigail Weaver, of Kilgore, Allyson Davis, of Whitehouse, Emily Jarrell, of Longview and Madalynn Thompson, of Tyler.
The Rangerettes, who are known for their high kicks and the jump splits, have traveled around the world, entertained millions and spurred a multi-billion-dollar dance/drill team industry worldwide.
Show-offs to introduce the new freshmen and select the new Rangerette officers will be held at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, in Dodson Auditorium. Admission is free.
