LIBERTY CITY, Texas — Gregg County leaders joined Sabine Fire and Rescue firefighters Saturday to break ground for construction of the department’s new $3.5 million fire station, which officials say will improve fire protection in the area.
The station will allow the department to staff firefighters 24 hours per day, 365 days per year, said Fire Chief Richard Sisk. The station will be next to the department’s No. 2 station at 4589 FM 1252 W., and construction is expected to be completed in late 2025.
“Today's groundbreaking signifies a turning page, a start of a new chapter for the Sabine Fire Department in Gregg County Emergency Services District 2,” Sisk told a crowd of firefighters, elected officials, law enforcement officers and family members.
