Rusk Rural Water Supply issues boil water notice for several Cherokee County roads

Due to a problem at a water plant, several roads in Cherokee County are under a boil water notice. CBS19 has a full list of affected areas.

CHEROKEE COUNTY, Texas — Rusk Rural Water Supply has issued a boil water notice for some customers.

Due to a problem at a water plant, several roads in Cherokee County are under a boil water notice. According to Rusk Rural Water Supply, residents on the following roads should boil their water before consumption:

  • Hwy. 69 N
  • FM 1248
  • FM 2972
  • Meadowlark Lane
  • County Road 1501
  • County Road 1502
  • County Road 1503
  • County Road 1505
  • County Road 1506
  • County Road 1507
  • County Road 1523
  • County Road 1524
  • County Road 1525
  • County Road 1526
  • County Road 1527
  • County Road 1528
  • County Road 1536
  • County Road 1537
  • County Road 1539
  • County Road 1540
  • County Road 1541
  • County Road 1605
  • County Road 1608
  • County Road 1609

As a reminder, residents should bring water to a rolling boil for at least 2 minutes before consumption, which includes washing hands/face, brushing teeth, drinking, and ice making. In lieu of boiling, residents can purchase bottled water or obtain water from another suitable source.

Public water system officials will notify customers when water is safe for drinking. CBS19 will update this article when residents can return to consuming water.
