RUSK, Texas — Rusk Police are investigating after a student was injured on campus.
A statement from Rusk ISD said a "serious incident" occurred on the Rusk High School campus on Wednesday resulting in a student being injured. The district said administration is examining internal procedures and working with local law enforcement to conduct an investigation of the situation.
The guardians of all students involved were contacted by campus administration and the district is working with them to resolve the matter, Rusk ISD said.
"Rusk ISD will have zero tolerance for this type of behavior from our students and while we cannot discuss individual disciplinary actions, please know that we will follow state education codes and local policies to ensure the disciplinary consequences align with the seriousness of the offense," a spokesperson for Rusk ISD said. "The safety of our students remains our top priority, and we will continue to review our policies and procedures to maintain a safe and secure environment for everyone on campus."
