Rusk County creates staging area for line crews to support power restoration efforts

The OEM wants people to be aware of more traffic than usual coming to and from the facility on FM 13 as well as the intersection of Loop 571.

RUSK COUNTY, Texas — The Rusk County Office of Emergency Management has set up a staging area for contractor line crews to support the restoration of power across the county.

The Rusk County Expo Center has been established as the staging location. The OEM wants people to be aware of more traffic than usual coming to and from the facility on FM 13 as well as the intersection of Loop 571 as crews work to restore service to those still without power.

"We do ask that you avoid chasing down utility crews to ask when power may be restored to a particular area. Line crews have been given specific assignments and they may not be the ones assigned to restore power to your particular street or neighborhood and if they are from out of town, they likely will not know specifics of your situation," Rusk OEM said. "The specialized work that these crews must complete is challenging and dangerous enough to complete without additional burdens."

Rusk County OEM also recognized the generosity from community members who have given out drinks, food, and supplies to keep them hydrated and safe.
