Rusk Rural Water Supply issues boil water notice for some customers

As a reminder, customers should boil their water before washing their hands and face, brushing their teeth, drinking or other uses.

RUSK, Texas — Some Rusk residents are under a boil water notice due to a main line leak.

While crews are working to repair a mine line leak, water in affected areas may contain harmful bacteria. The Rusk Rural Water Supply Company is warning customers in the following areas to boil their water prior to consumption:

  • FM 1857
  • CR 25515
  • CR 2216
  • CR 2218
  • CR 2219
  • CR 2220
  • CR 2223

As a reminder, customers should bring their water to a vigorous rolling boil for two minutes before washing their hands and face, brushing their teeth, drinking, or other uses. Children, senior and people with weakened immune systems are especially vulnerable to harmful bacteria.

When it is no longer necessary to boil the water, officials will notify customers that the water is safe for consumption. CBS19 will update this article to reflect changes to this notice.
