GUN BARREL CITY, Texas — The Gun Barrel City Fire Department says elderly residents of a home were hospitalized following a fire over the weekend.
According to the GBCFD, on Saturday, Aug. 10, around 11:40 p.m., officials responded to a structure fire in the 100 block of Cedarglen St.
When crews arrived on scene, they reported flames and smoke were coming from the living room. Officials say they worked together to get the elderly residents to safety.
The fire was quickly brought under control in about 90 minutes. The residence was damaged by fire, smoke and water.
The residents were taken to a local hospital for treatment and will be assisted by the American Red Cross.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
