'Reflections and Omens' art show in Tyler features East Texas based artist Shaun Roberts

Organized and curated by Dace Kidd, the show will feature the work of Shaun Roberts, a Texas based artist.

TYLER, Texas — The Reflections and Omens art show opens this weekend in downtown Tyler.

The opening event begins Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Gallery Main Street in Tyler, located at 110 N. College Ave. Suite 105. Organized and curated by Dace Kidd, the show will feature the work of Shaun Roberts, a Texas based artist.

Roberts is currently an associate professor of art at Stephen F. Austin State University and a painting area coordinator who has been in several group and solo art exhibitions across the nation. According to Roberts, the paintings in the Reflections and Omens exhibit explore themes of desperation, the enduring human spirit, and the capacity for redemption.

"My paintings attempt to unearth and understand mysteries and terrors about ourselves," Roberts posted on his website. "The characters are in ambiguous settings, possibly post-war, ecological disasters, economic collapse, or what your imagination may conjure."

The opening event is sponsored by Gallery Main Street, Tyler Art Lift and Green Cat Consulting. The exhibit will be open until Aug. 7.
