Recovery fund established to aid First Methodist Church of Marshall rebuilding efforts

The fire broke out last week, burning the longstanding 163-year-old building on E. Houston Street down. The church was established in 1839.

MARSHALL, Texas — The Trinity Conference Global Methodist Church has announced the establishment of a recovery fund to aid First Methodist Church in Marshall with rebuilding efforts, following the loss of the church’s sanctuary after a catastrophic fire.

“The Trinity Conference office has established a recovery fund for all donations made to First Methodist Church Marshall in support of rebuilding their sanctuary after the devastating fire they experienced,” the organization, which is comprised of a family of churches in Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas, announced.

“As many of you know their sanctuary was a historic building that’s stood for more than 160 years. In coordination with Pastor David Luckert a request has been made to receive all donations through this established fund,” Trinity Conference GMC officials stated. “100% of your generous donation will go to rebuild First Marshall.”
