DALLAS — New music from a country music icon was released Friday.
Randy Travis, a North Texas resident, dropped his first new recording in over 10 years.
The country legend, who suffered a life-threatening stroke in 2013 and hasn't recorded new music since, has been promoting his new single, "Where that came from," on his socials. And the reaction has been overwhelmingly positive, as fans react to hearing Travis' smooth baritone once again.

Travis, who lives in the Grayson County town of Tioga, released music in 2019 that was recorded before his stroke. But the song dropping Friday was billed as a "brand new recording," and videos posted on Travis' socials show him in a recording studio as the song was put together.
Whether it features new audio or previous recordings, or both, remains to be seen. But Travis' voice on the song will sound familiar to his legion of fans.
"You'll hear much more about the special team of folks who came together to help make this magical moment in my career possible in the coming week," Travis posted on Instagram. "In the meantime, just know that when it comes to singing songs for you, there's always more where that came from."
Travis' promotion of Friday's release has also included several reaction videos from his fellow country singers, including his friend Clay Walker.

Travis rose to prominence in the 1980s and became one of the most accomplished artists in country music history, racking up 16 No. 1 singles, seven Grammy Awards, and numerous country music awards and nominations.
Travis spent six months in the hospital recovering from his 2013 stroke that initially took his voice and his ability to walk.
