Tyler man accused of shooting toward woman after altercation at Taco Bell

Tyler Police Department spokesperson Andy Erbaugh said Williams shot toward a woman, but she was not hit.

A Tyler man accused of shooting toward a woman at a Taco Bell in Tyler Monday night was arrested.

Steven Murray Williams, 64, will be booked into the Smith County Jail on an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge in connection with the incident at the Taco Bell, located in the 2700 block of E. Fifth Street in Tyler, around 8:15 p.m., police said. 

Tyler Police Department spokesperson Andy Erbaugh said Williams shot toward a woman, but she was not hit. Williams was shooting because of a verbal altercation at the drive thru. Neither Williams or the woman knew each other.

No one was injured. Williams was stopped on East Fifth Street and taken into custody. He was taken to the hospital after learning he needed treatment for an illness.
