POLICE: East Texas man arrested after stabbing, taking woman hostage

MOUNT PLEASANT, Texas — An East Texas man has been arrested after allegedly stabbing two people and holding another woman hostage.

According to the Mount Pleasant Police Dept., on Wednesday, Dec. 6, police responded to a stabbing at Priefert Manufacturing. Officers were told Officers were told one of the two victims was being taken to a local hospital, and the suspect had left the scene. 

Officials obtained arrest warrants for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for the suspect, identified as 43-year-old Skip Springer.

Around 10 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 7, the MPPD was contacted by the Daingerfield Police Dept., regarding Springer's whereabouts. 

Authorities responded to an address in the Daingerfield area where they learned Springer was staying. 

"Springer refused to surrender and refused to allow a female to exit the residence," the MPPD said. "MPPD SWAT and hostage negotiators responded to assist."

Spring was eventually taken into custody and the woman was released unharmed.   

Springer was booked into the Morris County Jail aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated kidnapping and additional warrants previously obtained by the MPPD.
