LINDALE, Texas — Crowds are gathered in Lindale for the Piney Woods Wine Festival where they’re able to sip some wine from cute pink cups from over 20 East Texas vendors.
With the number of wineries joining the Piney Woods Trail growing every year, East Texas could be the next wine country in the state.
"We've had four new wineries join the Wine Trail in the last 16 months. this area out here is conducive to growing grapes, and making a very nice wine," President of the Piney Woods Wine Trail and co-owner of Los Pinos winery, Jeff Schrunk said.
22 of about 50 wineries in East Texas are on featured on the Piney Woods Trail, some of them like the Los Pinos have award winning wine.
Guests said this is an opportunity to taste all of the different wineries from all over East Texas.
Seong Mclaren, Tourism Director of Lindale said with Lindale being the central location of all the wineries, it’s the perfect opportunity to bring the city more business.
"It puts guests in all of our hotels, the visitors eat in our restaurants, shopping all of our amazing businesses," McLaren said.
And owner of Red 55 winery, Rick Lambert, said everybody is cheering everybody on.
Saturday will be the last day guests can sip, shop and listen to some live music at the Piney Woods Wine Festival.
