NEW SUMMERFIELD, Texas — A person accused of making a threat on Tuesday against New Summerfield ISD is in custody.
According to the school district, the campuses went into lockdown due to an unverified threat at the time.
Following an investigation by law enforcement, the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office says the person believed to have made the threat, identified as a 15-year-old boy, was taken into custody in Jacksonville. The teen was not a student at New Summerfield.
The teen was booked into a juvenile detention facility for terroristic threat.
