Permit filings confirm future location of Layne's Chicken Fingers in Tyler

Based on the address, Layne's Chicken Fingers will be in the area of where the Wagner Cadillac previously sat before moving to Old Jacksonville Highway.

TYLER, Texas — A recent permit filing has confirmed the future address of a new chicken finger restaurant and when construction should start.

Layne's Chicken Fingers, a chain fast food establishment that started in College Station 30 years ago, will be at 4040 S. Broadway Ave. and the construction is expected to begin Sept. 2 and be completed on May 15, 2025, according to information from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.

The estimated cost is expected to be $500,000. The restaurant will be built from the ground up, the TDLR filing states.

Based on the address, Layne's Chicken Fingers will be in the area of where the Wagner Cadillac previously sat before moving to Old Jacksonville Highway. Layne's also applied for a permit with the city of Tyler on Monday with the description noting the building will be a new single-story drive-thru chicken restaurant located in the Wagner Addition.

According to a Tyler Morning Telegraph article in June, Tyler native Taylor Thomas will open the first Layne's Chicken Fingers in Tyler and has plans to bring 25 other locations across the East Texas region.

Layne's has a reputation as a "Texas A&M legend known for its small-town charm, friendly service, iconic chicken fingers and secret sauce," according to a press release from 1851 Franchise.
