Minor injuries reported after middle school student struck by vehicle near TJC campus

Tyler ISD spokesperson Jennifer Hines encouraged drivers to be extra vigilant at crosswalks or any part of the city, especially during the school year.

TYLER, Texas — A Tyler ISD middle school student who was struck by a vehicle early Thursday morning has no major injuries. 

According to the Tyler police active call list, the crash happened on S. Clayton Ave. and East 5th Street near the Tyler Junior College campus in Tyler. The crash happened around 7:30 a.m. The vehicle that hit the child remained at the scene.

The child appears to have minor injuries. The crash is still under investigation. Charges for the driver, if any, will be determined after the investigation, Tyler Police Department spokesperson Andy Erbaugh said.

Tyler ISD spokesperson Jennifer Hines said the student was struck the vehicle while using the crosswalk in the area. They were taken to a hospital with a parent.

Hines encouraged drivers to be extra vigilant at crosswalks or any part of the city, especially during the school year.
