TYLER, Texas — The nonprofit PATH is hosting its annual summer fan drive to assist in keeping people cool amid the East Texas heat.
According to PATH, also known as People Attempting To Help, donating fans can help families in need reduce energy costs while keeping the heat at bay. For people who are older or are health-compromised, heat can be deadly. Fans only cost 10 cents a day to run.
To contribute toward the fundraiser, people can stop by Home Depot in Tyler from June 1 to Aug. 5 and buy a $22 box fan. They should then tell their customer service associate at checkout that they are donating the fan to PATH.
PATH will then pick the fan up and make sure it gets to someone in need of a fan. People can also buy a new fan at any local store and drop it at PATH during business hours (8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday).
Financial donations toward the PATH fan drive can be made here.
