CARTHAGE, Texas — Several Panola County Sheriff's Office employees were recognized for helping in the arrests of people accused of assaulting an ATM repairman and stealing over $90,000 in Missouri.
According to a news release, the Panola County Sheriff's Office received a request on Aug. 12 to locate a vehicle wanted in an aggravated robbery that happened in O'Fallon, Missouri two days before. Deputies responded to Highway 59 North, where Deputy James McBrayer, Sgt. Stephen Gillie and Investigator Chadd Gray conducted a traffic stop on a rental vehicle.
That rental vehicle was believed to have been involved in the robbery at an ATM machine, where three men allegedly assaulted a repairman who was servicing the machine. Police said the men threatened the man's life and stole cash cassettes containing $94,000.
The O'Fallon, Missouri Police Department commended Lt. Chris Welk, Lt. James Ferris, Gray, McBrayer, Gillie and Deputy Josh Nagle for their assistance in the robbery investigation.
"I am proud of the thorough investigation conducted by our Deputies and thank Chief Mininni for his recognition," Panola County Sheriff Cutter Clinton said. "Highways 59, 79, 149, and 315 are heavily travelled roadways and our personnel have to remain vigilant for whatever they may encounter while patrolling our county.”
