PALESTINE, Texas — One man is arrested after fleeing from police following a traffic stop in Palestine on Saturday evening.
According to the Palestine Police Department, officers responded to the intersection of West St. and South St. around 7:43 p.m. for reports of a Chevrolet pickup running a stop sign.
Police reported the driver of the vehicle eventually came to a stop but sped away after speaking with the officer on duty.
After following pursuit of the vehicle, officers watched the man lose control of his vehicle. Briefly, police lost sight of the vehicle but eventually found it later in the 100 block of Hardin St.
Officers were able to locate the man inside of the residence, hiding inside of a bedroom.
The man has been identified as Joe Louis Roberts Jr., 60, of Palestine, according to police.
Roberts was arrested and transported to the Anderson County Jail and charged with driving while intoxicated 3rd or more, evading arrest with vehicle and running a stop sign.
