MARSHALL, Texas — An Olympic gold medalist figure skater will take to the ice Wednesday as part of the city of Marshall's Wonderland of Lights opening ceremony.
Oksana Baiul, 1993 World Figure Skating champion and 1994 Olympic gold medalist for Ukraine, visited the Wonderland of Lights last year and she said on social media that it "felt like a kid skating again." Now, she will be doing a solo skate at 6:45 p.m. followed by skating with patrons at 7 p.m.
Baiul will be available for photos and autographs until 8:45 p.m.
Those who wish to skate on the Wonderland ice may purchase a ticket on the Wonderland website. Skating sessions are $12 each session, which includes renting the skates.
Other attractions at the Wonderland of Lights includes the carousel, carriage rides, Santa's Village (crafts, face painting and visits with Santa), wagon rides and the Wonderland Express (traveling through downtown Marshall on a trackless train).
