Ollie Gordon II wins Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award

The award is presented to college football's Offensive Player of the Year with a Texas connection by SPORTyler and the Tyler Chamber of Commerce.

TYLER, Texas — The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award has their winner for the 2023-24 college football season.

During the 11th annual ceremony at the W.T. Brookshire Conference Center in Tyler on Wednesday night, Ollie Gordon II was announced as the winner of the award.

“I’m honored to present the award to Ollie Gordon, II,” Earl Campbell said. “All of these players had incredible seasons. They all deserved their place as a finalist.”

Oklahoma State running back Ollie Gordon II finished his sophomore season as the nation’s best running back. He has won several awards such as the Doak Walker Award, All-America honors and the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year, while also receiving more votes for the Heisman Trophy than any other running back.

The annual award is presented to college football's Offensive Player of the Year with a Texas connection by SPORTyler and the Tyler Chamber of Commerce.

According to the award's website, the selection committee is be comprised of Texas-based journalists and college football dignitaries and, in subsequent years, each of the all-time winners.

Next season's preseason watchlist will be announced at the annual East Texas Kickoff Luncheon in August.
