Officials hosting bottled water distribution for community north of Arp without power, water

There is no estimated time for the power to be restored, Smith County officials said.

SMITH COUNTY, Texas — Dogwood Estates, a community north of Arp in Smith County, remains without power and water because of recent storms.

Smith County Emergency Management Coordinator Brandon Moore was told late Wednesday night that because of a loss of power, the water tower could not operate, which caused the community to be without power as well. About 30 homes are affected.

SWEPCO crews restored power on Thursday but it went out again that night.

The distribution of bottled water will begin at 4 p.m. Friday at Smith County Emergency Services District 2, Arp Fire Station 2, located at 12125 County Road 246 South in Arp. Non-potable water will be available for animals.

Moore said crews are working to get a generator to power the water tower. There is no estimated time for the power to be restored, Smith County officials said.
