Official: 1 dead, 2 injured in mobile house fire in Bullard

According to Dickson, a 23-year-old man in a wheelchair died in the fire. A 28-year-old man was injured and taken to a local hospital.

BULLARD, Texas — One man died and two other people were injured after a mobile home fire in the Bullard area Thursday night. 

Cherokee County Sheriff Brent Dickson said a 23-year-old man in a wheelchair died in the fire at a home on County Road 3523. A 28-year-old man was injured and taken to a local hospital.

On the scene, fire crews attempted a rescue of people stuck in the house but crews were unsuccessful.

During the rescue, firefighters became trapped and additional assistance was called in.

One firefighter was injured and taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. 

Officials said the fire is under control and the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office is investigating. 

Fire departments that assisted in controlling this fire were Arp VFD, Bullard VFD, Chapel Hill VFD, Dixie VFD, Flint Gresham VFD, Jackson Heights VFD, Noonday VFD, Red Springs VFD, Troup VFD, Winona VFD, and Whitehouse VFD. 

Bullard Fire Department, Smith County Rescue, and Cherokee County Sheriff's Office were also on the scene.
