Nutrition shops raise funds to help families of East Texas teens killed in crash

The impact Boston has made on Big Sandy is what's making businesses like Sunny View Nutrition step in and support his family during this difficult time.

BIG SANDY, Texas — It's been five days since a car crash that killed East Texas teenagers Boston Wilson and Carter Snider over the weekend.

The crash sent shockwaves through the Big Sandy and Hawkins communities and now a Big Sandy business is standing by one of the families impacted.

"In our hearts, you know that we just wanted to get back, to be able to help out the help out his family," co-owner Sunny View Nutrition Mallory Koenig said.

Boston and Carter lost their lives after a two-vehicle wreck last weekend in Houston County. Koenig and many others in the Big Sandy community are coming forward to help any way they can.

"Want to be able to give back. That's kind of reasons why we do, go into businesses. Definitely to help people, but also to help out the community whenever needed," Koenig said.

Sunny View’s mission is to bring healthy vibes to the community while spreading positivity by giving back. That recipe is a part of their new healthy sweet drink they’ve added to the menu in Boston’s honor.

"We wanted something that was red, something that was sweet. So, it's just a healthy sweet blend. It's got the strawberries, got watermelon, it's got cherry, tropical punch, definitely just something red, something sweet and something vibrant," Koenig said.

All week, they’ve been raising donations to go toward the Wilson family and their needs.

"We wanted to show Boston how loved he is, how great of a community Big Sandy is, how much everyone does support him. So definitely for me and Karen here at Sunny View. We do hope that y'all come out and see us and show all of y'all love and support for Boston," Koenig said.

The impact Boston has made on Big Sandy is what's making businesses like Sunny View step in and support this family during this difficult time.

"He was well known at school. You can definitely see by the post, you know the talk within the community that you know it's a hard time because that's, someone's best friend, someone's brother, teammate, classmate, you know student," Koenig said.

On Friday 6:30 a.m.  to 4 p.m., a percentage of all sales at Sunny View will be donated back to Boston's family to help support their needs. Refuel Nutrition & Energy in Hawkins is also hosting a fundraiser Friday for Boston and Carter. A portion of sales will go towards helping the families.
