Noticed a hazy sky? No need to be alarmed, here's what it was

CHEROKEE COUNTY, Texas — If you were out and about this afternoon in East Texas you might have noticed a hazy sky.

There is no need to be alarmed as it was a controlled burn in Cherokee County.

The 300-acre controlled burn occurred off Farm to Market 343 near the Atoy area in Cherokee County shortly after 11 a.m. on Saturday, according to the Smith County Professional Firefighters Association L-5300.

As of now there is no imminent danger to any structures or reports of injuries.
