NACOGDOCHES, Texas — A Nacogdoches man was arrested on Monday after allegedly running away from deputies on a stolen ATV machine with children in the back.
According to the Nacogdoches County Sheriff's Office, around 6:30 p.m. a deputy noticed an ATV machine driving at a high speed rate on County Road 525.
The NCSO says the deputy attempted to stop the ATV but it continued to travel for a couple miles before wrecking around a curve.
Authorities say the driver, Jervoski Pruitt was arrested at the scene. There were also two children inside the ATV, ages 9 and 10.
Both children were shaken up, but were unharmed.
Deputies say the ATV was believed to be stolen since Pruitt claimed he found the machine and didn't know who the machine belonged to.
Authorites say the machine was stolen on Saturday night from a local ATV dealer, but the theft had not yet been recognized.
Pruitt was booked into the Nacogdoches County Jail for evading arrest or detention, two counts of endangering a child and theft. His bond was set at $100,000 on all charges.
