As of now LPD does not have the name of the other individual who was arrested on a warrant.

Officers responded to Hopper's apartment early Monday evening for a welfare concern.

The welfare check was about water dripping from Hopper's apartment into the unit below.

When officers arrived to the unit, Hopper was washing clothes in the bath tub and had left the water running which overfilled the bath tub.

While at the apartment, officials noticed what they believed to be methamphetamine lab components and called the Special Services Division, which led to a search warrant and the ATF being called.

Police said Hopper was in possession of methamphetamine, marijuana and numerous prescription drugs in addition to the materials consistent with bomb making.

ATF agents are still investigating and more charges are pending.

ORIGINAL STORY:

Six units at Silver Creek Apartments in Lufkin were evacuated early this morning after Lufkin Police officers found materials used to make bombs while responding to a call.

According to the Lufkin Police Department, the evacuation comes as a precaution.

Authorities said that components but no actual device were found inside apartment 206 after they conducted a welfare check at around 5:30 p.m. Monday because water was dripping from that apartment into a downstairs unit.

Two male suspects were arrested.

One was given drug charges and the other had previous warrants out for their arrest.

Police found what they initially believed to be part of a methamphetamine lab.

The Special Services Division was called and authorities got a search warrant.

While searching the apartment, investigators found out that the items in question were actually materials used to make bombs and called the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.

Police said that as of 4:30 a.m. Tuesday, ATF agents were on their way to the scene from Tyler and a Garland Police Department bomb squad was already there.

"Out of an abundance of caution, we are evacuating the units in that building until the ATF can complete its investigation," Police Chief David Thomas said.

Authorities said more charges are pending.
