Monica Ortiz joined CBS19 as a Weekend Anchor/MSJ in September of 2018.
Monica comes to Tyler from Syracuse, New York where she received a masters degree at Syracuse University. While attending Syracuse she covered basketball and volleyball for the ESPN ACC Network Extra, as a sideline reporter and analyst. She also completed internships at ESPN Radio Syracuse and CBS Austin.
She is from Monahans, Texas and grew up around Friday Night Lights. Monica has a passion for both news and sports.
She loves the Red Raiders. Her father attended the University of Texas and raised her a longhorn, but she had her sights set on Texas Tech for undergraduate school. There she received a bachelors in advertising and masters in mass communications during her five years at the university.
