Family of missing Tyler man urge public to help in finding him

Jose Alejandro "Alex" Perez was last seen leaving the Towne Oak Apartments on April 26. If you have any information on this case, please contact Tyler police

TYLER, Texas — Jose Alejandro “Alex” Perez, 44, was last seen around 9 p.m. on April 26, at the Towne Oaks Apartments in Tyler and as time passes, family and friends are becoming increasingly concerned.

Hilaria Mendez, Perez's mother, describes her son as someone who took care of her as well as others.

Maria Mendez, Perez's aunt, said that he kept his personal life private, but she is now realizing how loved he is by so many of his friends.

Perez left the Towne Oak Apartments on the night of April 26 without telling his mom where he was going which was unusual, according to Hilaria.

"That’s the last we’ve heard. Nobody can get a hold of him. He’s missed work, and now everybody is concerned," Tyler Police spokesperson Andy Erbaugh said.

Perez left in his car that night, but his family didn’t know where he was going or who he was going to go see.

On April 29, police found Perez's vehicle at the Autumn Glen Apartments off Hollytree Drive, just a couple of streets from where he was last seen. Police are now looking in that vehicle to find any clues as to where Perez could be.

"Anything between Old Bullard Road and Hollytree Drive, if you’ve got ring camera or you’ve got any kind of cameras in your house, look at those and get with our detectives and maybe they can find some information on those," Erbaugh said.

Hilaria said she feels sad without her son at home, but holds out hope for him to come home.
