MEXIA, Texas — A Mexia football player that was hospitalized after an asthma attack has tragically passed away.
On Tuesday, a community prayer was held for Micah Kirven, who was hospitalized after an asthma attack which led to cardiac arrest, by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Mexia community.
Brian Hullum of the Mexia Athletic Booster Club told 6 News on Tuesday that Micah is a very special young man and is a big part of the athletic community and Blackcat community.
Previously, Kirven was previously highlighted as the "Texas Farm Bureau Insurance - Limestone County Player of the Week" for rushing for 130 yards and 2 touchdowns on 10 carries in the Blackcats' game against Westwood last month.
"All of our thoughts and prayers are with the Kirven Family and our Blackcat Family today," the Mexia ISD Athletics Facebook page said in a post on Tuesday. "We ask you keep his family, his teammates, his coaches, and the Mexia Community in your thoughts and prayers as we navigate through this difficult time."
