Memorial services announced for woman killed in Longview Taco Bell shooting

The family of Rayleene Smithson, 60, will hold a public visitation at Rosewood Funeral Home in Longview Friday from 2-8 p.m.

LONGVIEW, Texas — Memorial services have been arranged for the woman killed in a shooting at Taco Bell on June 26.

The family of Rayleene Smithson will hold a public visitation at Rosewood Funeral Home in Longview Friday from 2-8 p.m. A celebration of life will be held Saturday at Galilee Baptist Church beginning at 11 a.m.

Smithson was shot while working her job at Taco Bell following a failed robbery attempt. The suspect, now identified as Brent Leslie DeLuca, 31, of Gilmer, fled the scene in a stolen vehicle. He was apprehended June 27 and charged with capital murder.

Smithson is survived by her daughters, Emily, Teresa and Dakota, who described Rayleene as a motherly figure to many in the community. A GoFundMe fundraiser has been set up to support the family of Rayleene, which can be found here.
