JACKSONVILLE, Texas — “Disaster Drill In Progress” read a half-dozen signs studding the lawn Thursday morning outside UT Health Jacksonville.
About 350 medical professionals, nursing students, police officers, firefighters and support staff simulated a destructive tornado and the subsequent emergency response in the hospital’s westside parking lot.
Periodic drills, which can cover scenarios from a mass shooting to a radiation exposure incident, are mandated by the state and aid in crisis preparedness.
