Marshall police warning community about skimming device found at gas station

According to the press release, the skimming device was found at a QuikTrip gas station near Interstate 20 on Saturday evening.

MARSHALL, Texas — Marshall Police is warning the public about a skimming device found at a local gas station on Saturday evening.

According to the press release, the skimming device was found at a QuikTrip gas station near Interstate 20 on Saturday evening.

Police are alerting the public that skimmers steal your card information after you pay at the pump. This leads to further unauthorized transactions if no action is taken.

In order to protect yourself from this crime, police advise:

  • Using a credit card over a debit card for better fraud protection
  • Paying inside with a cashier rather at the pump
  • Before paying, tug at the card reader. Skimmers are known to place a device over the original card reader
  • Be vigilant for tamper-evident stickers and do not use the pump if the sticker is broken

If you believe you are a victim of credit card fraud contact your local police department and report the incident.
