Marshall High School cancels classes for the rest of the week due to fire

A Facebook post said the school will continue to be closed to air out the building of fumes and restore certain parts of the school damaged by the fire.

MARSHALL, Texas — Marshall High School announced the school will be closed to students on Thursday and Friday while they continue with repairs from a fire earlier in the week.

A fire began on Tuesday morning in the school's auto shop classroom. 

A Facebook post said the school will continue to be closed to air out the building of fumes and restore certain parts of the school damaged by the fire.

According to Marshall ISD, the 200 hall and CTE wing are being deep cleaned and having air filters replaced. 

All MHS staff will work on Thursday and Friday at the regular start time. DEAP will have school on Thursday and Friday.
